Sewage data

Welcome to the Conham Bathing sewage data dashboard!

Here you can find live data on CSO (storm overflow) usage in the lower Bristol Avon.

The map shows the status of each of the CSO locations that we track. Each CSO is coloured according to its status:

  • Blue: The CSO hasn't discharged in the last 48 hours.

  • Amber: The CSO has discharged in the last 48 hours.

  • Red: The CSO is discharging now.

  • Grey: The status of the CSO is unknown.

If a CSO is amber or red, there is likely to be sewage in this section of the watercourse.

About The Data

We source storm overflow data in realtime from Event Duration Monitoring (EDM) equipment which Wessex Water have installed at sewer storm overflow points on their network. We source this data in realtime from the UK’s National Storm Overflow Hub (NSOH). There are a number of alternative maps available for you to access such as the Sewage Map from The Rivers Trust.

Due to the nature of the data, it is impossible to say with complete certainty whether or not the river is safe to swim in. It is up to the swimmer to exercise their own personal judgment.
